We finally managed to get new signage up at the WFAA gallery in downtown Wichita Falls. It has been a long time coming, and looks good. The truth is, I was asked to address this more than a year ago, but I have ben so diametrically opposed to the WFAA logo, that I just ignored the request.
Rather than go into a diatribe of what makes a good logo, I'll just say it lacked some hallmarks of good design. About 18 months ago, the Association asked for some interior posters to fill a space and promote the organization. The iteration you see below was born. It was a simple combination of a well-known gallery icon (the red dot representing a sell) and some basic typography and the WFAA logo. Ironically, one of the two elements of it that I really dislike (the face in the F) works really well at very large scale.
I'm glad it's in, I hope it drives traffic to the gallery. I made it big enough to see from an airplane.

Now the entrances are clearly associated with the picture windows |
Gallery Hours are clearly posted, though the white on white fails at more than 10 feet |
The 5 color signs required about 6 visits to get installed |
Our first night we were rained out for about 45 minutes |
Very large multicolor cuts are a challenge because it's impossible to register them before installation |
