Since relocating to a small town, it's been a challenge to find placed to get out and hear and see new things. So a recent trip to the Fort Worth/Dallas area was pretty refreshing.
I overheard at lunch a woman describing a tour group she met and overheard her say this. Naturally, I then painted the Japanese rising sun in the background. Very American of me.
We stopped for coffee in the newly gentrified Design District. It has been an area that, for years, interior designers frequented to find furnishings and art. It was a great, semi-seedy area to hang out in and see interesting stuff around. Then, about 10 years ago, developers moved in and started converting the CtPa Town to a hipster haven. We still frequent the area because there are some stellar galleries, but I usually draw the line at coffee shops that have a valet who proceeds to park your car 20 feet from the shop entrance. Sheesh. However, we did stop at one such spot recently. Predictable patrons above. I will say, and this was a nice surprise... it was very racially diverse. People from all over the world enjoying overpriced coffee together.
While I was enjoying an amazing eggs-benedict, a young woman came in carrying a small purse dog. When the hostess asked if it was service dog, the woman just nonchalantly stated that it was. Now, IDK, it could have been a lot of things, but I've seen service dogs in action and generally they aren't tiny cuddle dogs in purses.
Yeah, I know, it's a gross general-ism, but I like the idea that the world could be improved by avoiding a suffix. Prefixes, though, they only make the world a better place.

Man, is Disney on a marketing rampage or what? This Force Awakens crap is everywhere. Bottled water, grapes, bananas, diapers. I guess people have to SOMETHING on their products, why not r2-d2. This is from the pre-Disney-owning-Lucasfilm days. But it made me think about how unstoppable a marketing force Disney is.
There are LOTS of graineries in this part of the country. Maybe it's like that all over, but you can't drive 20 minutes in some places here without seeing one. This was the purina pet food plant in Fort worth. If you look close you can see my purina logo in there.
This small water fall is on the Trinity river in Fort Worth. After drawing this, which is about a 6' water fall, I laid back and took the best nap in the world. Something about running water that just puts me right to sleep. North east of down town.
