I Have A Bad Feeling About This

Han Solo : Scoundrel

When considering ideas for this installation, Han Solo was the first on my list. In fact, he was kind of the inspiration. He has to be one of the most recognizable characters in the pop culture world. Why Scoundrel? Ahh, only a question a non-nerd would ask. Han's the bad boy, the guy every guy wants to be. He has the cool car, the cool sidekick, and a nonchalant attitude. The Princess eventually falls for this scruffy-looking nerf-herder, but makes clear that she has his number, and it's that he's a scoundrel. Lucas establishes this fact in the original Episode IV, when after knowing the character for less than 5 minutes, the director has Han execute a bounty hunter by not only shooting FIRST, but by never even giving Greedo a chance to take a shot. Watch the original theatrical release, you'll see. Greedo never squeezes off a shot.
Why flowers? At heart, Han is a romantic. He tries to put on a tough front, but in truth, he's a softy. And, I'm no fan of guns. Ironic, I know. Artist touts a mercenary smuggler as one his main influences, but doesn't like the idea of the violence he inflicts. What can I say? I like the idea of the character, a 7 foot tall replica of him pointing a weapon... that seems like a bad idea to me. Let's face it, if we replaced every gun on earth with roses, life would be a lot better.
